Kylie Jenner No Makeup

In less than two months, you’ll be able to buy an entire Kylie Jenner collection at Sephora or Ulta with your credit card without ever having set foot in a department store.

And that’s just it — this girl has been around long enough that we can all stop comparing her looks to other people our age. Sure, they may have their own style quirks (like Kim Kardashian’s pout), but no one looks exactly alike. And if you want proof, take a look at some of these photos from her recent appearances on Good Morning America and VH1 Divas Live. They’re so different from each other that it’s almost impossible to tell them apart unless you know what’s going on inside her head. In short, Kylie Jenner is way too cool not to inspire comparisons. Here are five reasons why.

1. Her Look Is Totally Fashion-Focused

The first thing anyone notices about Jenner when they see pictures online is how much effort goes into every single shot. Sometimes, I get tired looking at her social media because there’s always another filter being added. But beyond the filters, you should notice that Jenner doesn’t wear any accessories. No earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, watches, scarves, sunglasses, hats, hair bows, etc. Just clothes. If anything, her outfits consist mostly of black turtlenecks paired with white jeans, dresses, sweatsuits, hoodies, sneakers, and more. There aren’t even any prints or patterns involved. Basically, it’s a bunch of basic pieces worn together over and over again until everyone else starts wearing the same exact outfit as well.

This lack of accessory accessorizing makes Jenner stand out among celebrities who tend to put a lot of thought into their wardrobe choices. Take Rihanna, for example. When she does appear on red carpets, you usually find multiple belts, shoes, purses, clutches, jewelry boxes full of earrings, necklaces, rings, and/or bracelets strewn across her body. Or, Justin Bieber will sometimes sport multiple gold chains while he’s promoting new albums. These types of fashion statements might seem exciting to watch, but they don’t necessarily make sense stylistically. Unless you live in the Biebs’ world where only expensive things fit right, none of his flashy jewelry really fits him — it kinda makes him look cheap. Jenner, however, seems content dressing herself entirely based off of trends instead of whatever feels good.

2. She Makes Beauty Products Too

If you haven’t heard by now, Jenner also produces beauty products. As a matter of fact, she was named Brand Face of Lancome Paris back in 2015. This means that Jenner gets paid big bucks to endorse high end cosmetics brands. However, unlike most celebs who rely solely on endorsements to sell their stuff, Jenner actually creates her own line called “Stay Put” which consists of lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, mascara, eyeliner pens, blushes, foundations, contour kits, gloss sticks, liquid highlighters, and nail polishes. She also sells these items through her website and various retailers including Barney’s New York and Neiman Marcus. For comparison purposes, Kim K famously created her famous clothing line Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Khloe + Lamar, and Kris Humphries after getting heavily invested in several companies. Yet despite those efforts, both sisters reportedly earned far fewer than Kylie did selling her signature cosmetic brand.

So yes, Jenner earns millions per endorsement deal, but she also shows up to photo shoots with nothing on except underwire bras and underwear. Also, speaking of sexy lingerie, Jenner has appeared in many Victoria Secret catalogues posing half naked with strategically placed candles. Not to mention, she recently got married to rapper Travis Scott in Italy and wore a wedding dress designed by Virgil Abloh.

You won’t catch Kanye West doing something similar, especially since Kim told fans earlier this year that she wouldn’t let Yeezy join Snapchat because he refused to cut ties with Calvin Klein. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift went against everything she believed in to work with Kylie on Lip Kit Glow Sticks. You’d think someone with such strong opinions would stick to her guns, but then again, maybe not. After all, Jenner’s success comes from making money, not following rules.

3. The Real Reason Why Fans Love Her So Much

Now that we’ve established that Jenner is probably never going to change her style, appearance, or approach to business, here’s the real reason why people love her so much. Even though Jenner hasn’t released a music video in four years, she continues to dominate headlines like whether or not she wants to date Drake, who recently said she looked like “meat wrapped in plastic,” or whether or not she wants to compete in Dancing With the Stars.

Jenner’s image used to revolve largely around her controversial parents, but nowadays, the tabloid press focuses primarily on her relationships, engagement, family life, feuding with ex boyfriend Travis Scott, and all the drama surrounding alleged mental abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of former manager Lou Pearlman. Jenner has become the talk of pop culture. People tune in to gossip news websites like TMZ and Page Six, and magazine covers featuring Jenner often top bestseller charts.

It’s easy to forget that Jenner started modeling seriously only a few years ago, and she’s had very little time to establish herself as a legitimate actress. Nowadays, her name alone inspires millions of girls who dream of becoming supermodels. That’s why it’s so important to remember that she’s young and relatively inexperienced compared to others in the industry. Yes, she’s worth billions of dollars, but it took nearly 20 years for her to reach this point. Plus, it takes forever for models to break into Hollywood — and even longer once they get there.

4. Her Instagram Feed Isn’t Always Pretty AF

Sure, Jenner’s feed is filled with glamazon shots showing her glistening wet lips, perfectly plucked eyebrows, glowing skin, smooth brows, and flawless face. But Jenner’s Insta posts rarely feature her friends, family members, or random strangers. Instead, her pics show her walking down streets in designer duds, shopping sprees, trips to fancy restaurants, and luxury vacations.

She’s so obsessed with capturing images of herself that she ignores the existence of beautiful women who post selfies daily. Don’t worry, though, Jenner’s followers definitely appreciate seeing her favorite celeb girlfriends like Cara Delevingne, Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Bella Hadid post regular updates. Other influencers include Chrissy Teigen, Ashley Graham, Karlie Kloss, Naomi Campbell, Emily Ratajkowski, Lily Donaldson, Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, Kate Moss, Natalie Portman, Beyoncé, and Michelle Obama whose official White House portraits were taken by Mike Kelley.

Also, keep in mind that Jenner frequently appears in paparazzi shots alongside rich men like French Montana and Dwayne The Rock Johnson, and she’s known for partying in clubs throughout Los Angeles and Europe with hot guys like Harry Styles, Tom Holland, Matthew McConaughey, David Beckham, Frank Ocean, and Nick Jonas. While she certainly dates rappers like Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, and DJ Khaled, Jenner’s main squeeze happens to be NBA player husband Travis Scott, whom she married last June. He’s reportedly older than her by three years, but hopefully, he knows how to treat her better than most dudes do.

5. It Shows How Long We’ve Been Waiting for Someone Like Her

I’m sure Jenner’s biggest critics could argue that she’s too perfect, too polished, too fake, too vain, and too self absorbed. Others say she’s not pretty enough, doesn’t deserve her fame, doesn’t care about helping struggling artists, and that she exploits her celebrity status. Still others contend that she lacks character and integrity. Some folks go further and claim that Jenner is mentally unstable.

But as harsh as all of these comments sound, they essentially prove my point. Jenner embodies the ideal version of a successful modern woman. She’s confident, ambitious, fashionable, financially independent, driven, and loves attention. By virtue of her achievements thus far, Jenner has proven that it’s possible to turn yourself into a global icon simply by working hard and believing in yourself. Now imagine if we could apply that kind of mentality to issues like climate justice, income inequality, racial injustice, gender equality, gun violence prevention, environmental conservation, human trafficking, homelessness, healthcare reform, immigration policy, LGBTQ rights, food insecurity, nutrition, clean water, clean air, sustainable agriculture, energy efficiency, renewable energy development, and education. Then maybe we’d finally start living in a society worthy of its potential.
